Alonzo Saclag was born on August 14, 1942, at Lubuagan. Alonzo Saclag is married to a woman named Rebecca Saclag, with whom he has nine children. He is a Filipino traditional musician, dancer and a native of Lubuagan, Kalinga Province.

He is the recipient of the National Living Treasures Award in 2000. Since he was a child, he was interested in the sound of the gong, as well as the songs, the ballads, victory songs, mourning songs for the elders, the salidumay, and the like. Alonzo Saclag mastered local musical instruments, along with dance patterns associated with rituals. Alonzo Saclag understands the importance of his practice and is a strong advocate of passing on his knowledge and continuing the use of traditional dress and adornments.

He is devoted to preserving the Kalinga culture, which involves dance, music, chanting, spiritual, architecture, and social ritual. Saclag used his own money to buy his land where he can perform and teach the younger generation about the culture of Kalinga.

His effort has included formal education, reaching radio stations, and the formation of the Kalinga Budong Dance Troupe. He also formed the Kalinga Budong Dance troupe and with the intent of promoting Kalinga dance to more audiences. Saclag also established a village within his town, named Awichon, which aims to promote Kalinga culture.
